    How to get there by train

    From Lyon

    • A direct train to Clermont-Ferrand, with a journey time of 2h15

    From Geneva

    • Travel to Lyon by regional train or bus (FlixBus or BlaBlaCar). From there, take a 2h20 train to Le Puy-en-Velay, with a brief connection in Saint-Étienne. The total journey time is just under 5 hours.

    • By bus: From Geneva Airport or city center, you can take a FlixBus—the most economical and fastest option, with a journey of around 1h20.

    From Lyon

    • By train: Expect a journey of around 4h30. Take a train from Lyon Part-Dieu to Bellegarde-sur-Valserine (1h30), then transfer to a train toward Saint-Gervais-les-Bains – Le Fayet (2h15), and finally take the local train to Chamonix (30 minutes).
    • By bus: From Lyon Perrache, direct buses (FlixBus or BlaBlaBus) take approximately 3 to 4 hours.
